Apart from the difficulties in trying to leaving scientology itself, simply leaving staff can be a nightmare.
When long term staff members eventually leave staff, they are often treated like scum for doing so. Not only this, but they are usually left with no real cv, as their experience is limited mainly to the orgs, which has little practical application in the real world. Degrees they may have had become almost null and void, as they have had so little experience in the field they studied, that they are not prime candidates for employment in these arenas, and they may well have forgotten most of what they learnt anyway.
The usual result of all this is a person who settles for a dull job just to pay the bills, leaving the person purposeless. Besides, the person’s original purposes may long be forgotten, having been substituted with the org’s purpose of “expansion of scientology.”
